Donating art to San Diego Pride felt like the right kind of handoff
Earlier this month, I donated my artworks to the Pink Gala, a fundraiser hosted by San Diego Pride in partnership with Stepping Stone of San Diego, a local nonprofit that provides addiction and mental health services to the community.
The gala had more than 600 guests, and the pieces went to silent auction and raffle. I thought about what it means to make something with your hands and then let it go, knowing it will land somewhere it is needed. That is the whole reason I make things slowly. Care has to show up in the handoff too, not just in the studio.
